In this article, we will show you how to establish a remote connection to an SQL database via the Plesk control panel.
(STEP 1) First, you need to create your SQL database. You can do this by going to the "Databases" menu on the left side of the Plesk control panel and clicking the "Add Database" button.
(STEP 2) On the SQL database creation page, enter the database name, select the MSSQL2008 (LOCALHOST) or MSSQLSERVER2012 server, and set an access username and password. After entering this information, you can select the database ACCESS CONTROL type; to allow remote connections, you must select the "Allow remote connections from any host" option.
(STEP 3) Once the database is created, install the SQL Server Management Studio program on your computer. Launch the program and fill in the fields on the initial screen:
- Server Name: If you created the SQL database on the MSSQL2008 (LOCALHOST) server, simply enter your hosting domain or the server IP address. If you created the database on the MSSQLSERVER2012 server, you must enter your hosting domain or IP address followed by a comma and the custom port 11433. Example: domain.com.br,11433
- Login: Enter the username for the created database;
- Password: Enter the password for the created database.
DONE! The remote connection has been successfully established. Please be advised that, due to security reasons and access blocks on port 1434 affecting clients using NET (VIRTUA) and CLARO internet service providers, the port for MSSQLSERVER2012 on the Windows server "Apolo" will be changed to 11433.
If you currently use port 1434 for remote database connections or within any system or script, please update the port setting to ensure continued access.
The connection port for MSSQLSERVER2008 (Standard) on the server will remain 1433.
