Setting up your email account in Microsoft Outlook (POP connection)

Learn how to set up your email account in Microsoft Outlook using a POP connection.

Whenever you are asked for an email address (or, in some cases, an account login) while configuring email software, use the full address (e.g., [email protected]).

1) Click **File**.

2) Click **Account Settings**.

3) On the **Email** tab, click the **New...** button.

4) Select the option **Manual setup or additional server types** and click the **Next** button.

5) Select the **POP or IMAP** option and click the **Next** button.

6) Fill in the fields:

**Name:** Enter your name.
**Email address:** Your full email address.
**Account type:** Select **POP3**.
**Incoming mail server:** Enter `mail.yourdomain.com.br`
**Outgoing mail server (SMTP):** Enter `mail.yourdomain.com.br`
**User name:** Enter your full email address.
**Password:** Your email password.

Then, click the **More Settings...** button.

7) Click the **Outgoing Server** tab and enable the option **My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication**.

8) Click the **Advanced** tab, change the **Outgoing server (SMTP)** port to **587**, and then click **OK**. On this tab, you can also specify how long to wait before messages downloaded to your computer are deleted from the Host Asp server.

Once messages are deleted via a POP3 connection, they cannot be recovered; for this reason, we recommend configuring the account as IMAP or ensuring the account retains a full copy of your messages.

9) Click the **Next** button to finish creating your account. 10) Check if the account authenticates successfully, as shown in the image below. If it fails, verify your password via webmail to ensure it is correct.

You`re all set! Your account is now configured. Simply click the "Finish" button.
